PDF to Image: How to Save PDF Pages as Images

A PDF is great for printing but awkward for sharing: WhatsApp and Instagram show no preview, many slide tools won't accept it, and on a phone it forces you into another app. Turning the pages into images fixes all of that.

When converting a PDF to images makes sense

  • Sharing one page on social media, WhatsApp or Telegram, where an image shows directly in the chat.
  • Dropping a page into a presentation in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides.
  • Publishing a flyer, letter or menu on a website or a Google Business profile.
  • Creating thumbnails or previews of a document.

If you want to reuse the text, an image isn't the right format: extract the text from the PDF instead.

How to convert a PDF to images online

  1. Open the PDF to images converter.
  2. Upload your PDF.
  3. Download the result: each page becomes a separate JPG image, all bundled in a single ZIP file.

Images are rendered at high resolution, so text and charts stay readable when you zoom in. Nothing to install, and it works on your phone.

Quick alternative for a single page

If you only need part of one page and quality isn't critical:

  • Windows: Windows + Shift + S and select the area.
  • Mac: Cmd + Shift + 4.
  • Phone: take a screenshot with the PDF zoomed in.

A screenshot is limited to your screen's resolution, which is why it looks blurry when enlarged or printed. For full documents, or whenever sharpness matters, the converter gives better results.

JPG or PNG: which one?

  • PNG: lossless. Best for documents with text, tables, charts or logos, because letter edges stay crisp.
  • JPG: smaller and great for photos, but it compresses and can leave "smudges" around text.

The converter outputs high-resolution JPG, which works almost everywhere. If you need PNG (say, for a page full of small text you plan to edit), open the image in any editor (Paint, Preview, your phone's gallery) and export it as PNG.

Tips for good-looking images

  • Crop white margins if the image is going to social media; the content will appear larger.
  • One page per slide works better as an Instagram or LinkedIn carousel than one image with the whole document.
  • Check the file size before uploading to a website: if it's several MB, shrink it so the page loads fast.
